Further to the Chancellor’s statement last week, announcing additional grant funding for hospitality, retail and leisure businesses forced to close under the new lockdown restrictions, the Scottish Government have now announced how they intend to distribute the funds allocated to Scotland.

These will be in the form of one-off top up grants, in addition to the current 4-weekly grants businesses are eligible to receive through the Strategic Business Framework Fund.

Hospitality

  • £25,000 for businesses with a property Rateable Value of over £51,001.
  • £6,000 for businesses with a property Rateable Value of under £51,001.

Retail (Non-essential) & Leisure Businesses

  • £9,000 for businesses with a property Rateable Value of over £51,001.
  • £6,000 for businesses with a property Rateable Value of under £51,001.

In most cases, eligible businesses that have already applied for, or are in receipt of the 4-weekly payment from the Strategic Business Framework Fund, this top up grant will be issued automatically and will added to the next tranche of payments, due around 25th January.

Businesses that have been forced to close and who have not yet applied for the Strategic Business Framework Fund can still do so.  The payment will be backdated to the date of forced closure and they will also be eligible to receive the above top up grant.  Applications are made via local authority websites.

Per the announcement it would appear that businesses with multiple properties will only be eligible to receive one grant, however this is yet to be confirmed.
