Business Rates & Grant Funding Update

We would like to highlight the very latest updates and announcements as made by the Scottish Government to the business support grant schemes.

Small Business Support Scheme. You can now apply for a grant if you are not a ratepayer but occupy certain types of shared space, e.g. shared office space, business incubator or industrial space. You must lease the space from a landlord who is the registered ratepayer for the property. Eligibility criteria on our updated factsheet.
Multiple retail, hospitality and leisure properties. As of 8^th June, the upper combined rateable value limit has been increased from £51,000 to £500,000. Eligibility criteria on our updated factsheet.
New support for small bed and breakfast businesses under the Newly Self-Employed Hardship Fund. This will be made available for those who are ineligible for other support due to not having a business bank account. Final eligibility criteria still to be published but applications for funding are expected to open on the 15th June.

Please note new application deadline. The Small Business Support and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant schemes will now close for new applications on 10 July 2020. This was previously 31 March 2021, however new applications have slowed in recent weeks, as most eligible businesses have already claimed their grant and the Scottish Government is keen to utilise and re-route funds left in the Scheme to help other businesses. Please do not delay your application if you are eligible for this funding.
